am Shiraz 2001
“Although the Semillon was beautiful it was overshadowed by the excitement and joy of the birth of our gorgeous son Rourke. We pulled out the Chardonnay vineyards and replaced with Shiraz. We changed our winning recipe and added a touch of Semillon to the Sauvignon Blanc to make it even better. American Oak was banned forever on Nitida.”
Tasting Notes
“The perfect accompaniment to your wildebeest sandwich.” “The wine is dead right, just add venison as-my-mother-would-make-it.” Dark fruit “Meirine’s black cherry sauce”. With herbs and spices where they should be “untamed” “prickly” “colt-like”. “Crème brûlée at the very end”. Watch out, this is a more-ish, food wine. “You’re driving or we’re staying”
Winemaker Comments
Just 600 cases available of this stunner. Our lovely white peppery nose and blockbuster fruit of the 1997 is refound here. Interestingly, this wine is made from vineyards in just their 2nd harvest. We stay away from the trendy heavy- (often American) wooded approach and only use 2nd fill barrels. 100% open fermenter, cap punched through every 4 hours & fermented at 30 degrees. This is a more-ish food wine, chameleon-like it just works with anything.
