ag Chardonnay 2010

““Fabulous weather made up for a mechanically challenging harvest. The incredibly cool February gave us another brilliant Sauvignon Blanc. Even the slight heat wave in March was useful for ripening the reds conveniently balanced by light rains which spaced our cultivar pickings nicely. The year brings a new Chardonnay and a very exciting “white” MCC (launch 2011) into the range. Bernhard bought 3 new tanks which somewhat eased RJ’s juggling act with cellar space. Kerry joined our team in February and Version2 of our Nitida website went live.””

Tasting Notes

Taming a Percheron. Creamy butterscotch sauce and malva pudding, balanced with soft smokey lime and honey. Makes you yearn for pickled ginger.

Winemaker Comments

A first time for RJ and the first for Nitida since 2003. These grapes was sourced from a warmer vineyard in Durbanville to ensure full ripeness and those lovely zesty Chardonnay flavours. The vineyard is about 18 years old and in perfect condition and we managed to pick 4 tons for Nitida. The grapes were harvested on 18 Febuary, after tasting the grapes every day, the week before to ensure perfect balance. The wine is lightly wooded to fill the lack of mouthfeel that tends to characterise unwooded Chardonnay. The wine shows lovely zesty lime characters with a wonderfull mouthfeel and a stunning natural acidity. It was a breaze to make this wine.
