ae Sauvignon Blanc 2010
““Fabulous weather made up for a mechanically challenging harvest. The incredibly cool February gave us another brilliant Sauvignon Blanc. Even the slight heat wave in March was useful for ripening the reds conveniently balanced by light rains which spaced our cultivar pickings nicely. The year brings a new Chardonnay and a very exciting “white” MCC (launch 2011) into the range. Bernhard bought 3 new tanks which somewhat eased RJ’s juggling act with cellar space. Kerry joined our team in February and Version2 of our Nitida website went live.””
Lusciously racy. A generous mouthful of gooseberries and the tropics, restrained by elegant lime-zest, grapefruit & lemongrass.
Once again, we had a very wet and cold September/October, which pushed the growing season later than usual. Scattered hale storms & very strong winds during the flowering period meant a season to remember, with very small, but flavour intense bunches ñ another small yield from the Nitida Vineyards. A relatively cool February, with not one day going over the 30∞ mark, meant lovely long ripening of Sauvignon Blanc.( Heat wave hit in March, during Harvest). The vineyard canopy was managed to ensure our traditional pyrazines, but also encourage the formation of more fruity thiols! We picked from 9 different blocks in Durbanville. This ensures a full range of flavours and contributes to the complexity of the wine. The wine is fruit driven with the pyrazines that will show off in the latter part of the year.
