There are no other Bernhard Veller's in the wine industry. Unintentionally he is superbly qualified for his current job with, amongst other things, a masters degree in chemical engineering, 17 years experience in manufacturing and business management, he speaks 3 languages fluently, and most importantly, he has always collected good South African wine (and enjoyed a glass or few).

Not only does he own Nitida, but he is fully involved.

Someone has to do it and he does it so well!
Until 3 years ago, he physically made all the wines on the farm himself. Today he works closely with our dedicated winemaker, RJ, and is especially hands-on in determining and maintaining Nitida Style and in the crafting of final blends.
Being in the cellar is the next best thing to being with the kids.

On any given day, he can be found examining a leaf or tasting the grapes, fixing a crusher or labelling line, tasting through barrels and blends, talking with customers, tax consultants or effluent managers.

His membership of the Cape Wine Makers Guild is testament to the consistent quality of the Nitida wines created under his leadership. He was also the force behind starting the Sauvignon Blanc Interest Group for the Wine Industry. He has shown his commitment to the Durbanville Wine Valley Association.
